We want our members to feel supported, with more choice and flexibility in their care. So, as part of ahm at Home, we give eligible members* access to treatment or recovery services+ offered by Medibank, either in hospital or in the comfort of their own home, when clinically appropriate~ and available in their area.#

Hospital at Home

Hospital at Home is available to all ahm members with residential hospital cover. The Hospital at Home program allows eligible members* to leave hospital early and continue their hospital care at home, right from their living room, when their doctor considers it clinically suitable.~ 

There are a few conditions that may be treated at home, when clinically appropriate,~ including skin conditions or inflammation like cellulitis; wounds, ulcers or stomas; infections like pneumonia and urine infections; blood clots; and conditions that need long term antibiotics such as bone and joint infections.+

Rehab at Home

After surgery or a hospital stay, if you're eligible*, it's clinically appropriate,~ and available in your area#, your doctor may recommend ahm’s Rehab at Home program to help you recover and get back on track.+ Instead of staying in the hospital for rehab, eligible members* with hospital cover that has Rehabilitation as an Included or Restricted service may be able to continue their recovery at home, if clinically appropriate, with rehab programs to support your recovery. 

Joint replacement rehab

Recover from a hip or knee joint replacement in the comfort and familiarity of your own home. Depending on your specific health needs, your program will typically run for 5-6 weeks, with 1-2 visits from a physiotherapist each week.

General rehab

Rehab treatment to support your recovery from a procedure required as a result of various conditions like heart or lung disease, stroke, injuries or fractures from falls, or cancer. Expect to receive 1-2 home visits per week for 6-8 weeks, depending on your specific health needs.

Palliative care at Home

This program offers+:

  • a team who have extensive experience in palliative care, including doctors, nurses, allied health staff (eg. physio) counsellors and pastoral care workers.
  • physical, emotional, spiritual, and social support for the person undergoing treatment and their family.

Alcohol and Drug Detox at Home

Eligible ahm members*¹ on select products who meet Clean State Clinic’s program eligibility criteria² have access to the Alcohol and Drug Detox at Home program (until 24 Nov 2026³), provided by Clean Slate Clinic. The program aims to provide eligible members a safe, flexible, and clinically supervised medicated pathway to withdraw from alcohol, drugs or other stimulants in the comfort of their home.

What products is this available on?

This program offers+:

Two program pathways are available, which includes:

  • Full program: preparation and assessment (up to 2 weeks), detox (1-3 weeks) and aftercare (up to 11 months). 
  • Aftercare only: 11 months of support for those who have already completed detox in hospital or separate inpatient facility.

The program is delivered virtually by Clean Slate Clinic and is available nationally.
