Credit card fees and charges

Here’s a bit more information about the message we recently sent you.

In 2016 ahm introduced a credit card surcharge of 0.25% applicable to all new members who pay their policy with a Visa or MasterCard. The surcharge is not applicable to existing members, such as yourself, unless you upgrade or downgrade your cover. Due to a system error, we incorrectly charged you the credit card surcharge fee.

Do I need to do anything?

No. You don’t need to do anything. If you have any questions though, call us on 134 246 or live chat with us.

How will I receive my refund?

We’ve put the refund back on your credit card. The refund was processed around the same time you received our message (allow time for it to appear on your credit card statement).

What happens if my credit card number has changed?

If your refund is not successfully charged back to your credit card, we’ll call you to sort it out.

How can I save on fees?

Good question! Switch to Direct Debit by bank account. There is no surcharge when you pay by Direct Debit through your bank account — whereas all premium payments made by MasterCard or Visa incur a 0.25% surcharge. You can change your payment preferences in Member Services.
